Recently I’ve been part of an amazing story. Only later I found out about the deeper meaning. One day, during my ministry in Uganda, I heard about a group of Egyptian missionaries. I had never seen them before. Traveling in Uganda, they suddenly showed up in my village, one of thousands of small places in this huge country. I learned they had no place to sleep, so I invited them to my house and prepared food for them. Sitting together in my living room, I told them they should rest like Elijah. He ate, slept, renewed his strength, and continued his journey. Happily, they went back to Egypt, and I forgot about these unexpected visitors.

Some time later, I was surprised to read this in an update from a dear friend of our Egyptian IM staff:

“The group leader that we prayed for so fervently told me that on their last travel day, because they were short of money, had decided to spend the night in a travel microbus to save the price of overnight accommodation. (That’s pretty dangerous in Uganda!) While they were on the dark road at night, the leader and her team heard about a man named Mina. When they visited him, he welcomed them with much enthusiasm and generosity. Although he did not know them, he prepared dinner for the entire group. They were also able to take a shower and change their clothes to prepare for their return to Egypt. Of course I said, we know that Mina! Not knowing about our prayer for the group, Mina was part of God’s story.”
